My aviation life, by IY.

Welcome to my aviation blog. A place where I document my journey through the world of flying. Here you’ll find my flights, training sessions, aircraft notes, and personal experiences as a student pilot, along with the lessons and milestones that shape my path.

The Beginning of a Dream

My story with aviation began long before I ever touched a control stick. As a child I lived near a very busy General Aviation airport. Especially on Sunday I could hear the engines running of airplanes like the Cessna 172. But I thought, these are all wealthy airline pilots. People who had spent large amounts of money to get their pilot licenses.

Discovering a Different World

In 2012, Microsoft Flight came out. A casual flight simulator that changed how I saw aviation. It showed me that there was more than just ATPL-licensed pilots. The game was great, but becoming a pilot still felt expensive and out of reach. There were private pilots, hobbyists, and enthusiasts. People flying because they loved it.

Finding My Place

In 2018, I met a brother and some students who were running an aviation enthusiast club. I joined them, and for a while we learned together, shared our passion, collected aviation books and collectibles, and even worked on two flight simulators: an F16 and a Cessna sim. Over time, however, the club leader moved to Qatar, and the group slowly fell apart. Once again, aviation became something I watched from a distance.

Going All-In

Last year I started working at an airport, no longer just watching planes, but being part of the environment I had admired for so long. That’s when I made a decision: I would go all in on aviation.

My Journey So Far

Since then, I’ve taken my first real steps into flying, training across different airfields, flying various aircraft, and gaining experience in both electric and conventional propulsion under RPL and PPL training. Although I’m still discovering what suits me best, with glider training coming up next.

This blog is the start of something bigger.

And this time, I’m not just watching aviation from the ground anymore.
